Christmas Spirit Oil

Don’t you just love the Christmas season. Even though I know what God did for me, Christmas time is a reminder. For the most part, people tend to have more joy and peace. More generosity and kindness. I love having my home smelling of Christmas at any time of the year, when I need to be centered and reminded that I am a child of God and well loved.  Christmas Spirit utilizes Orange, Cinnamon Bark, and Spruce to create a scent that taps into the joy and warmth of the season. The spiciness of the Cinnamon with the fresh scent of the Orange brings the emotional base of Christmas to the forefront and the Spruce introduces the pleasing evergreen aroma. Combined all together leads to a relaxed, peaceful Christmas scene. Evoking feelings and memories Christmas joy and peaceful moments. There are multiple uses for Christmas Spirit including but not limited to simple diffusing to provide a warm, comforting environment. A couple drops placed on logs in a fireplace will permeate the air with the wonderful spicy, warm aroma. If you have carpet in your home, you can create a carpet freshener by combining with baking soda or an air freshener by combining with witch hazel and water in a glass spray bottle.  The possibilities are endless to what you can do to get that special Christmas feeling in your own home year around.  Check it out. Give it a try. It is a very inexpensive blend for the possibilities.

Essential Elderberry Syrup

With the funky illness season upon us, I have made my Essential Elderberry Syrup. I love my Essential Elderberry Syrup. My Son and I take a teaspoon a day during this season to help keep the buggies away. If we do get sick, I increase it to 2-3 teaspoons a day, and it helps to minimize the length of the sickies.

Have you ever wanted to use something to help boost your immune system to naturally keep the sickies at bay? Have you ever considered elderberry syrup? My essential elderberry syrup is easy to make. You can use Young Living Essential oils or you can use other organic spices and ingredients. If you want the Essential Elderberry Syrup recipe, complete the newsletter sign up and and receive an email with the recipe and other oily tips.

I have found that all that ails me can be made less by using my oils. Plants are God’s natural remedy for everything.  Do you see it that way? I mean, plants make the most basic of life giving elements ~ OXYGEN.  God made plants with a natural ability to HEAL themselves when damaged. So why not use that same natural ability by plants to help us do what our bodies are naturally meant to do?  Amazing thought, right?

2 Corinthians 9:10 For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity[fn] in you.

What are Carrier Oils?

Carrier oils are useful when working with essential oils because it is sometimes necessary to dilute a neat oil. One example is when applying to the skin.  Highly concentrated essential oils may cause skin irritations if not diluted properly.  The main advantage of carrier oils is they do not evaporate and instead aid in essential oil absorption. Making it easier to apply the “less is more” theory. Carriers can be easily incorporated for massaging, making lotions, rubs, and creams for use on babies, children, elderly, and sensitive areas.

Essential oils are usually distilled from aromatic elements of plant life including the leaves, flowers, bark, and roots.  These essential elements have a concentrated aroma and no fear of turning rancid.  With that in mind, be fully aware that some carriers go rancid with time and therefore have a shorter shelf life due to the method of their extraction.

Some common carrier oils are coconut oil, grapeseed oil, Jojoba Oil, olive oil,  and safflower oil.

The main advantages of Fractionated Coconut Oil has an indefinite shelf life and is in a perfectly clear liquid form. Other advantages of fractionated coconut oil are its colorless and odorless quality.  Its safe moisturizing quality makes it great to use in skin creams.

As its name implies, grapeseed oil is made from the seed of the grape.  Though the process of extraction is labor intensive it is widely known for its healthy culinary application. It offers regenerative and restructuring characteristics that offer quality skin moisturizing. Both coconut and grapeseed oils do not irritate acne or clog pores.

Jojoba oil is found in the seed of the Jojoba plant and is considered a natural wax.  It has a very stable shelf life and when mixed with other carriers, increases their shelf life.

It is known for its nourishing qualities for the skin.

Olive oil is universally known a one of the most quality culinary oils. Depending on the press, it has a full-bodied flavor and a strong aroma, and can also have a golden brown or green color.  Worthy to enjoy its healthful benefits to the skin and hair.

Safflower oil is extracted from the seeds of the safflower plant. Due to its high content of unsaturated fatty acids, it can go rancid quickly.

As you gain experience with essential oils, you will find that you can quickly make your own carrier mixtures that you are confident in, without careful measuring or precise calculations.

Sometimes it is wise to have a premixed salve, ointment, or spray for emergencies that may come up or for a concern that requires periodic application.  Be sure to use a tight sealing and low light container, or store them out of the light.

I have several things pre-made for periodic use. We use a roller bottle for our immunity booster recipe and allergy helper.  Both of these support our bodies in the natural battles of seasonal daily living. And I have a spritzer to help create an insect barrier while we are outside.

I am working on a recipe page. The initial recipes will be based on the oils that come in the Premium Starter Kit. The Premium Starter Kit comes with 11 5ml essential oils,  a Diffuser, 1 oz Thieves Household Cleaner Sample and 2 NingXia Red® 2-oz. samples. Three ways to use Essential Oils

Three ways to use essential oils are inhalation, topical application, and internal consumption.

The inhalation of essential oils heightens the senses triggering numerous desired responses in the body. One way is direct inhalation. This is just simply smell them.  You can do this just by opening the bottle and sniffing straight out of the bottle.  Another way of using the inhalation method is using a Young Living diffuser which disperses the oil in a micro-fine vapor into the air. The Young Living diffuser will not heat the oils ensuring full benefits, as extreme heat can damage important constituents in the oil.  Sometimes I will place a handkerchief that has a drop or two of an oil on it over steam vent of a humidifier (never put oil into humidifier, as it will not mix and could damage the humidifier.)

Topical application is simply to apply essential oils directly onto the skin where indicated. Dilute with V-6 Enhanced Vegetable Oil Complex or a pure vegetable oil (e.g., olive, grapeseed or avocado oil) before applying if dilution is indicated in the Application Chart. Dilution may protect against possible skin sensitivities. Key points of application on the body area. Essential oils are very potent, and some may be irritating to the skin. Dilution is key when applying, but if irritation occurs, immediately apply additional carrier oil to the area for additional dilution. Please read label directions for each individual oil before using.

There are a few key areas to use when applying essential oils. Those areas are the crown of the head, temples, behind the ears (NEVER IN THE EAR), on the neck, upper back, abdomen, over vital organs, on the soles and top of the feet, at the ankles.

Internal consumption is usually best done via a capsule.  I prefer the 00 (zero zero) size. Put several drops of oil or mix of oils into an empty capsule, add carrier oil and swallow with water. Essential oils, primarily the vitality series, can be added to water, meals when cooking or honey.  I have even put a drop directly onto the tongue and swallowed. Use extreme caution when using this method as many oils are very strong.  If consuming in this fashion, first test it by pouring a single drop onto a spoon and tasting a small portion to determine the amount of oil to be used.

Young Living essential oils are pure. The purity of the oils make them powerful and effective. For the responsible use of essential oils read the complete label on each bottle and follow the safety guidelines. I also recommend the use of the Essential Oils Pocket Reference.
